ATLANTA, July 9, 2018 —The Georgia Department of Economic Development’s Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) today announced the recipients of its Partner, Project and Arts Education grants for fiscal year 2019. One hundred and thirty-two organizations throughout the state were collectively awarded more than $1 million in funding. Georgia Surpasses California as #1 location for film production.

Georgia hosted more feature film productions than in 2016 than any other market, including the United Kingdom and California, according to a new study from FilmL.A., the not-for-profit film office that serves the Greater L.A. region. FilmL.A. analyzed a sample of 100 feature films from 2016, and 17 of these filmed in Georgia, FilmL.A. said May 23.
